Amazon Basics 21-Inch Hardside Carry-On

The Away Carry-On claims the top overall slot by combining polycarbonate shell durability with a thoughtful feature set that resonates across verified reviews. Buyers consistently highlight the smooth-rolling 360-degree spinner wheels, which hold up under gate-check stress and airport sprints, and the interior compression system that maximizes packing capacity without adding bulk. The hardside construction scores well on impact resistance—review sentiment shows minimal cracking or scuffing even after dozens of trips—and the ejectable battery pocket (now compliant with TSA lithium-ion rules) remains a differentiator for travelers who value onboard device charging. At 7.3 pounds empty, it sits in the mid-weight range for hardshells, light enough for overhead compartments but substantial enough to feel premium. The Away lifetime warranty and responsive customer service contribute to its elevated trust score, with refund and return data showing low dissatisfaction rates. Buyers who prioritize aesthetics and brand cachet also gravitate toward Away's minimalist design and color palette, though function drives the score more than form. This bag fits travelers who fly frequently, value long-term reliability over rock-bottom pricing, and want a single carry-on that handles both weekend getaways and week-long work trips without compromise.
