SwissGear Sion Softside 22.75-Inch Carry-On

The SwissGear Sion occupies the mid-range slot by blending softside flexibility with organized interior compartments at a price that sits comfortably between budget and premium tiers. Buyers favor this bag for its expandable main compartment, which adds 1.5 inches of depth when unzipped—a feature that scores well among travelers who accumulate souvenirs or pack bulky winter layers. The 1200D polyester fabric resists tears and abrasions, and the reinforced corner guards absorb impact during overhead bin shuffling or baggage conveyor drops. Review consensus highlights the smooth-rolling inline skate wheels and telescoping handle that locks at multiple heights, both of which contribute to the bag's quality score. The Sion's organizational advantage shows in its front-panel workstation with padded laptop sleeve, accessory pockets, and quick-access zippered compartment—functionality that appeals to business travelers and digital nomads who carry electronics and chargers. At 7.2 pounds, it's slightly heavier than hardside alternatives in this price range, but the softside construction allows for easier overhead bin stuffing in crowded cabins. The bag doesn't offer integrated locks or premium zippers, and its aesthetic skews utilitarian rather than sleek. Buyers who value interior organization over shell rigidity and need a bag that adapts to variable packing loads will find the Sion's feature set well-matched to their requirements.
